YOUR GUIDE TO
Blackheads, also known as congestion, are a mixture of dead skin cells, oil, and debris mixed together to form a little oxidized ball that
plugs up hair follicles.
Why It Happens
If the skin over the bump opens, the air exposure causes the plug to look black and forms a blackhead.
Another good rule of thumb is to regularly exfoliate – don’t over exfoliate though! Typically, 1-3 times a week is the right amount
But not the type of mask you're used to (we can't wait to get rid of those!). Use a clay-based mask 1-2 times a week - this will help absorb excess oil without drying it out.
Pro tip: follow the directions
Never leave a mask on for longer than the instructions say and do a patch test!
What not to do
If you are looking to get your blackheads extracted, we know it’s tempting but do not do it yourself! Head to an expert to avoid damaging your skin (which can lead to permanent scarring - eek!)
